Meet Dr. Bruce Farrell

Hometown Roots. A lifelong commitment to exceptional care.

Born and raised in Redding, Dr. Bruce Farrell has been caring for North State smiles since 1996.

His approach to dentistry combines decades of experience, advanced training, and modern technology with something equally important: taking the time to listen. For Dr. Farrell, good dentistry begins with understanding the patient—what brought them in, what they're experiencing, and what matters most to them.

At Home in the North State

Growing up in Redding and graduating from Enterprise High School, Dr. Farrell’s roots in the North State run deep. A football scholarship took him to Cal Poly, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology before attending the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.

After dental school, Dr. Farrell completed a one-year Advanced General Dentistry program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with additional training in dental implants, periodontics, and bite and TMJ disorders.

In 1996, he returned home to Northern California to begin practicing dentistry. Nearly three decades later, he continues to care for patients in the community that helped shape him.

His connection to the North State extends beyond the practice, with involvement over the years in Rotary and local community projects.

For Dr. Farrell, the North State is more than where he practices dentistry. It’s where he grew up, built his family, and has chosen to make his home.

Outside the office, he enjoys fly-fishing, backpacking, mountain biking, and staying active outdoors. While Northern California will always be home, his love of adventure has taken him well beyond it—from fishing and backpacking trips farther afield to traveling abroad with his wife, Shelley, and their three children, Riley, Ty, and Chase.

Whether close to home or somewhere new, time outdoors and time with family remain an important part of the life he’s built beyond the practice.

When He’s Not in the Office

OUR APPROACH

Understand First. Treat Second.

Exceptional dentistry starts with understanding the person behind the smile.

Dr. Farrell believes good dentistry is about more than solving the problem in front of you. He looks at the bigger picture, considering how your teeth, bite, and overall function work together and how the choices made today may affect your oral health over time.

He is meticulous by nature and believes good dentistry is worth taking the time to do thoughtfully and thoroughly. That same attention extends to the patient experience, with an emphasis on making care as comfortable and unhurried as possible.

Treatment is carefully planned around the individual, with attention to health, function, and a natural result.

Dr. Farrell has continued his education throughout his career, pursuing advanced study in comprehensive restorative dentistry, occlusion, and treatment planning through the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study and the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
